How long have you been driving for Alliance?
I have been with Alliance ever since I passed my Class 1 licence. I would say I started in 1993.
What would you say is the reason for you staying with Alliance for these many years?
My main reason for staying is Arron. He was the one who gave me work as a driver in 1993. He has kept me working through the years and I really appreciate him. Ami and the lads also kept me working and I’ve never had any issues.
Have you always been a Class 1 HGV driver?
Yes I have. Soon as I passed my test, I’ve always been a HGV Driver.
What is it that sets Alliance drivers apart from other temporary agency drivers?
Alliance Personnel always listen to what kind of driving work you want and don’t give you days here and there. The driving team Ami, Arnie and Jamie have always been consistent with jobs and communication.
Can you describe a typical day for you?
A typical day for me is a very early start, I do my vehicle checks and be on my way to the deliveries. I usually like to finish by 4pm.
What do you most enjoy about your role?
I enjoy that I’m in charge of myself. I’m very comfortable with driving and get all jobs done.
What do you least enjoy about your role?
There is nothing I don’t enjoy about my job. I’m very lucky I have consultants that give me decent jobs and jobs that I like. I really enjoy driving so I enjoy everything about my role.
Is there any advice you would give to anyone considering becoming a temporary driver?
I would advise drivers to be clear on the type to work they want to do. Then find a decent agency who communicate well and give you ongoing work.
How would you describe the support you receive from Alliance?
Amazing!
Any vehicle, anywhere in the world. What is it and where would you be?
A Bentley convertible in Jamaica
